Preventing & Treating Side Effects - Antiperspirants

As the saying goes: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In a previous post, I covered how to properly apply antiperspirant. If you apply antiperspirants properly, you are drastically reducing your odds of experiencing any side effects such as redness, irritation, or burning. Also, consider trying antiperspirants without fragrances because fragrances can cause redness, irritation, and burning (see my prior post on the effect of fragrances).

If you are experiencing side effects, I typically recommend a topical hydrocortisone cream, which is available over-the-counter at a pharmacy near you. As with any medication, we recommend consultation with your doctor or pharmacist first.
